Gerald Gunning has over 20 years of general practice and trial experience with numerous jury and bench verdicts in the fields of defense litigation, commercial litigation, commercial landlord and tenant, insurance coverage and appellate practice.
Jerry's defense litigation practice focuses on construction site accidents, premises liability, attorney malpractice and automobile accidents. His commercial litigation practice concentrates on disputes arising from construction claims, mechanics liens and commercial real estate matters. He has particular expertise with commercial landlord/tenant issues that involve possession actions, collection actions and lease dispute claims. Jerry also provides clients with insurance coverage opinions and has participated in numerous successful declaratory judgment actions.
Jerry's significant litigation expertise helps national corporations who do business in New Jersey and New York, such as, CECO Concrete Construction, Star Building and Arch Insurance Company, evaluate risk and achieve favorable results whether through trial, motion practice or settlement.
Jerry has substantial Appellate Court practice that extends to each of his practice areas. He has participated in and argued before the appellate divisions of New York in such reported cases as, McKeon v NYC, Williams v Colonial, Armellino v Fowler, Grogan v Norlite, Boyle v NYC, Buttice v Dyer, Associate Mutual v Empire, Crawford v MRI, 79th Realty v XLO, Wasser v NYC, and Horowicz v RSD.
Jerry is admitted to practice before the state courts of New Jersey and New York as well as before the U.S. District Courts for the District of New Jersey, Southern District of New York and Eastern District of New York.
Jerry is a graduate of State University of New York at Albany and St. Johns University School of Law.
