Janet Bayer is a partner in Stein McGuire's Litigation Practice where she works with individuals and closely held corporations focusing on employment law, personal injury, premises liability, commercial litigation, estate disputes and family law controversies. She is a regular provider of credit union management seminars at the Human Resources Management School covering employment law topics.

Janet has specific expertise in the prosecution and defense of sexual harassment, gender and age discrimination, family leave and CEPA violations, complex personal injuries involving serious injuries and multiple defendants, premises liability, products liability, tort claims defense on behalf of governmental entities, will contests between beneficiaries or heirs to an estate, disputes with vendors, collection matters, breach of contract matters, real estate litigation, commercial and residential landlord - tenant matters, general divorce, child custody, and post-judgment modifications of alimony and child support.

Although many of her clients are corporations, Janet brings a keen understanding that behind the corporate structure are individuals with problems that need to be solved and concerns that need to be addressed. Aware that her clients may be unfamiliar with the legal process, she strives to make them comfortable in legal settings such as depositions and mediations, by fully explaining the procedures to them, preparing them for giving testimony and encouraging them to ask questions.

Janet regularly practices before all law and general equity trial courts in New Jersey as well as the U.S. District Court, District of New Jersey. She has significant appellate court experience, appearing in numerous cases before the New Jersey Appellate court and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals involving such diverse issues as life insurance distribution under ERISA, the validity of will and trust provisions, and the interpretation and applicability of the New Jersey Family Medical Leave Act (NJFMLA).

For over ten years, Janet regularly served as a Condemnation Commissioner in Hudson County, and previously served as a member of the Kearny Board of Education. She is also an active member of the NJ State Bar Association.

Janet is a Dean's List graduate of Rutgers University and Western New England College School of Law. She is a former Law Clerk to the Hon. Arthur N. D'Italia, A.J.S.C. Hudson County.
